Take Advantage of 2015 USPS Mailing Promotions and Incentives

To encourage more businesses to use the United States Postal Service’s products for their shipping needs, as well as increasing the value of transactional and direct mail, the USPS has proposed four promotions for 2015. Although this is fewer than in previous years, the incentive periods will run for longer durations.

Many of the incentives require adoption of the USPS’s Full-Service. For those businesses who have not signed up for Full Service, this is a good year to do so. These promotions are still in the proposal phase, and last word was that they have not yet been given the green light to be implemented. The Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) has the final say as to when these programs will be implemented.

The 4 USPS Mailing Promotions Include:

  • Earned Value Promotion – Originally scheduled for April 1st – June 30, 2015 but now has been shifted due to the talk of a potential postage price increase in April. As of right now, the EVP is slated for May 1 – July 31, 2015.
  • Emerging & Advanced Technology Promotion – This was also due to begin on April 1st, but has been moved to occur on May 1 – October 31, 2015.
  • Mail Drives Mobile Engagement Promotion – July 31 – Dec. 31, 2015.
  • Color TranPromo: June 1 – Dec. 31, 2015.

Please note that these promotions have yet to be finalized by the USPS Board of Governors and the PRC, although they are expected to be approved sometime around the beginning of the year.Once they are finally given the green light, the USPS will offer a free, 2015 Mailing Promotions & Incentives summary guide.

Businesses who wish to participate in these USPS promotions and incentives must register with the Business Customer Gateway on the USPS website. Each of the four programs has its own set of technical specifications, participation requirements and FAQs. You will need to register for each promotion separately. To find out if your business is eligible, or if you want to learn how to process the Mail.dat files that adhere to their guidelines, you can also stay tuned for updates on the USPS website.
